A project funded by International Visegrad Fund, realized in collaboartion of 4 instiutions:
The aim of the project is to provide the artists with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and think together with scientists. The long-term goal of the project is that through these exchanges the artists incorporate the knowledge they gain into their work and hopefully through that help the appearance of a society that feels more responsible for the nature that surrounds them.
The project is composed of 3 elements:
- Opening Lab
- 4 Artistic Research Sessions
- Sobieszewo Conference
Opening Lab
This was our first experiment on getting artists and scientist closer to each other. The program was realised between 29-30th August 2021, in the framework of Bazaar Festival in Prague.
Artistic Research Sessions
Between August 2021 and May 2022 we have 4 artistic research sessions, one in each of the participating countries. For that we chose 1 artist from each country through an Open Call.
Jana Tereková (SK) – 14-28th August 2021. residency in Prague
Rózsavölgyi Zsuzsanna (HU) – 8-21st November 2021. residency in Bratislava
Bartosz Ostrowski (PL) – 24th January – 6th February 2022. residency in Budapest
Zden Brungot Sviteková (CZ) – 4-18th May 2022. residency in Gdansk
Sobieszewo Conference
As a closing of the project we will have a conference on Sobieszewo Island in Poland between 19-21st May 2022.

co-production call 2025-2026
The objective of the international Nature of Us project is to support collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue between the performing arts and the natural sciences in addressing climate change and environmental conservation. It responds to the performing arts’ needs to gain a solid understanding of the environmental issues and create works that meaningfully address their audiences’ concerns. As a result, enhanced effectiveness of artistic creations and products can be reached in raising awareness of climate change and encouraging taking action.
The Nature of Us is a collaborative initiative run by Workshop Foundation (HU), Live Performance Bazaar (CZ), PlaST (SK) and polkaDOT (PL), co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe Program and the Trust for Mutual Understanding (US).
After the series of Art-Sci residencies and a Symposium Contaminations (12-14 June 2025 in Bratislava), now the project calls artists/artistic groups, collaborating with scientists, to submit co-production proposals.
What we offer:
Nature of us will provide co-production support for the creation of a cross-sectoral performance, developed in international or local collaboration between environmental experts and artists.
Mobility Open call 2025
NATURE OF US // MOBILITY FOR ARTISTS AND SCIENTISTS BASED IN HUNGARY
As part of the NATURE OF US project, Workshop Foundation is pleased to launch an open call for a short-term mobility opportunity for 1 artist and 1 scientist/researcher interested in interdisciplinary dialogue between the performing arts and natural sciences, focusing on climate change and environmental conservation.
This exchange is designed to foster mutual understanding, dialogue, and inspiration between professionals working in the performing arts and the scientific fields. We aim to support professionals in exploring each other’s fields, methods, and environments by offering an opportunity to attend an event, conference, or field project outside of their own discipline. The NATURE OF US is an international collaboration between performing arts organizations from Central Europe (Live Performance Bazaar – CZ, Polka dot Foundation – PL, PlaST – SK, and Workshop Foundation – HU) working together with scientific and institutional partners.
The program responds to the performing arts’ growing need to understand ecological issues and to create meaningful, impactful work that resonates with contemporary audiences. At the same time, it offers scientists new ways to communicate their research and findings through the powerful tools of storytelling, emotion, and aesthetics that artists can bring. Together, these collaborations seek to inspire societal awareness and behavioural change toward climate action.
Artists on boarD
2025-2026
Artist on Board is a pilot program within NATURE OF US project testing a new format of art-sci exchange allowing for an artist or artistic team to be involved in an ongoing scientific research project, actively engaging the artists in a concrete scientific theme, leveraging their skills in the development, dissemination and the results. Scope of the artist’s participation in the scientific project as well as schedule will refer to proposed idea and will be discussed with a chosen artist or artistic team and organisers of the projects.
The two proposed in the open call projects, BROZ and Baltic Sea2Land deal with far-reaching environmental issues and were selected together with the NATURE OF US Art/Sci Committee as ongoing researches offering opportunity for scientific knowledge and methodology sharing with a potential for art-sci exchange, innovation and experimentation.
Artist on Board is addressed to individual artists or artistic teams interested in engaging in exploration within experimental practices at the intersection of art and science, eager to incorporate innovative and creative approaches into their work.
